Best of Disney Awards

Every year we’re expected to make some grand gesture to improve our lives. Resolutions are great in theory, but more often than not, we give up those goals within the first couple months. So, we’ve come up with some Disney inspired resolutions that should be easy to stick to, and will encourage a life more like that of the great Walt Disney!

This year, try to focus on the simple things in life that give you joy. You may not have the latest gadgets or be able to travel to far off places, but take some time to appreciate all the things you DO have.

A positive attitude goes a long way toward making any job bearable. With the right mindset, and some hard work, you can accomplish anything! Make this year your best one yet and put a song in your heart!

This is the year you’re finally going to let go of worry, guilt, regret, and toxic relationships! The new year is your chance to start over with a clean slate, do your best to leave last year’s baggage behind. Just Let It Go!

With all of the latest in photography and technology, it’s easy to forget that there’s a real world out there. Put the phone down from time to time and just BE. We often spend so much time trying to capture the moment, that we often forget to ENJOY the moment. Make an effort in 2017 to spend quality time with those you love – it’s the memories you make together that will keep you going.

Try live your life with all the wonder and magic of a child. Yes, we all have those pesky responsibilities of adulthood, but that doesn’t mean we have to ignore all the joy and magic that’s present in the world around us. Pick your favorite Disney Park, and try to go more often, or schedule in a classic Disney movie night, never lose touch with the lessons you learned as a child.

Ok, “No worries for the rest of your days” may not be completely doable, but Timon and Pumba sure knew how to enjoy life. They made the best of every situation and that is something I think we should all strive to do.

If you stand still, you’re bound to miss something incredible. There will always be obstacles in life, but make it your goal this year to keep pushing forward.

Everyone says “someday I’d like to…” Make that someday today! People often put things off with the belief that there will always be time later, but time is not guaranteed. Choose THIS to be the year you visit new places and try new experiences!

If there is one thing that Disney has taught us, it’s to have faith and trust in yourself and all the magic in the world. 2017 is all about you and the wonderful things you can accomplish if you only believe!

From California’s Disneyland to Florida’s Walt Disney World, Disney spares no expense in making the holidays as magical as everything else they touch. While each park hosts an array of festive attractions, shows, and decorations, it shouldn’t be overlooked that there is just as much Christmas cheer available to visitors right outside the ticket center.

Disneyland Resort

Disneyland comes alive in the winter months with twinkling lights and the overall magic of the season. From the festive Downtown Disney, to the beautifully decorated Disneyland Resort Hotels, there is so much you can enjoy outside of the park during the holidays.

Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District

At Downtown Disney District, you can experience all the magic of Disney without entering the gates.  Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink is the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit. Visitors can enjoy skating on the Disney-made ice rink surrounded by a “Winter Village” featuring lights, garland, and “snow” covered pine trees. Enjoy a hot cup of cocoa from Ghirardelli while perusing the many carts and chalets filled with gifts and personalized ornaments for the holiday season.

Live performances and Holiday Carolers make the Downtown Disney District a cheerful addition to your Christmas festivities, and would be the ideal location for a first date with your fellow MouseMinglers.

Disneyland Resort Hotels

Take a tour of the decorations on display at The Disneyland Resort Hotels. While, enjoying the sites, you will be entertained by Christmas carolers that perform in the lobby of each of the three magical hotels.

Disney Grand Californian

The Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is home to a 7.5 feet tall and 12 feet wide giant gingerbread replica of the hotel itself. It required over 500 pounds of gingerbread and 60 gallons of icing, but it was well worth the effort. The smell alone will make you glad you came to take in the sights of the hotel’s Craftsman inspired holiday decor and stunning Christmas tree.

Disneyland Hotel

Not to be outdone by the neighboring Grand Californian, the Disneyland Hotel features giant gingerbread castle inspired by the enchanted Sleeping Beauty Castle. Take a tour of the hotel’s different Disney-themed towers and check out how each one expressed their take on the holiday season. The hotel also hosts a special meet and greet spot for the big man himself….Santa Claus!

Paradise Pier Hotel

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel lobby features a magical sea-inspired Christmas tree. With surfboards, starfish, shells, and more, this is one tree you will want to take some time to admire up close. Not to mention, it would be the perfect backdrop for a Southern California Christmas card.

Walt Disney World

While Disney World’s parks are known for outdoing themselves for the holidays, a lot of holiday cheer can be found outside the gates as well.

Disney Springs

This year, Disney Springs is introducing “Christmas Tree Trail”, a 15 tree display that each pay tribute to favorite Disney characters, including Mickey & Minnie, The Muppets, Moana, Frozen, and more. This is Disney, so expect the experience to be made all the more magical with holiday music and a light “snow” fall.

When you’ve finished roaming around Disney Springs, taking advantage of all the decorations, shops, carolers, and the like, don’t forget to stick around for the new Christmas drone show,  “Starbright Holidays – An Intel Collaboration,” featuring 300 RC helicopters illuminating the night sky to the sounds of classic holiday songs recorded by a full orchestra!

Disney World Resort Hotels

No visit to Disney for the holidays would be complete without a tour of the many Disney World resorts. This is a task that could take up a day of its own, so we will simplify things a bit and just give you the highlights.

Contemporary Resort

It is Arendelle meets Small World all covered in gingerbread. This impressive Mary Blair inspired gingerbread display is adorable, with hidden Olafs and a 17 foot tall Elsa’s Ice Castle.

The Contemporary is also home to one of Walt Disney World’s oldest trees, which sports a retro-futuristic style that is breathtaking when illuminated.

Grand Floridian

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has made a name for itself with the annual arrival of a life-sized gingerbread house made up of tasty ingredients and a bit of Disney Magic. The resort is full of little hidden treasures to keep you in the holiday spirit, but make sure you don’t overlook the enormous Christmas Tree on display in the front lobby. Really though, you can’t miss it… it’s HUGE!

Swan & Dolphin

The Swan & Dolphin isn’t one that typically makes the list of must see Disney Christmas spots, but they have proclaimed themselves “Santa’s favorite Resort” so it’s worth a look. The property houses a beautiful poinsettia Christmas tree along with other holiday decor and an edible display that will bring a smile to your face.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

The Disney Beach Club Resort is dripping in garland and holiday cheer, but the highlight of this resort has to be the hand-crafted, edible carouse featuring chocolate and fondant ponies, delicate snowflakes, and gingerbread castle.

Wilderness Lodge / Fort Wilderness

For a cozy, rustic Christmas, head to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The entire display is just breathtaking starting with the massive Christmas tree and holiday decorations that make use of the woodland theme with wood carvings, pine cones and antlers.

While you are there, it just makes sense to stop by the campgrounds of Fort Wilderness.

Lovingly designed by long-term guests on the campground loop, this is a Christmas display no one will scoff at. It may not be as elaborate or fancy as the Disney designed decor of the resorts, but trust us, it is no less impressive!

Thanksgiving is a time for giving, sharing, and family. It’s a holiday that brings us together from over the river, through the wood, and across the country, to show our appreciation for family and everything we have. . This sounds a lot like the spirit behind Disney itself. So what better way to honor this connection than to Disneyfy your Thanksgiving!

Here’s a list of 10 small ways you can bring Disney to your Thanksgiving gathering:

1. Festive Door Wreath

This classy touch  will bring joy all season long. It’s also a way to show off your creative side and let your neighbors know what’s important to you. You don’t have to go with the Mickey ear design, but even if you do, there are so many decorating options that yours is bound to be one of a kind.

2. Disney Inspired Centerpiece

What better way to turn your holiday into a Disney party than a centerpiece. It’s the focal point of any great Thanksgiving feast, and whether you choose to go with Cinderella, the Mouse himself, or maybe a decorative Death Star, any bit of Disney magic will surely brighten the faces of your friends and family.

3. Mickey Pie

Let’s get serious for a minute. Thanksgiving would not be the holiday it is without the PIE! Lots and lots of pies!!! This is a cute way to give people their choice of flavors, while making sure that Mickey is still the main man at your party.

4. Disney Character Napkin Rings

Here is a cute way to dress up that kiddie table, or even the adult table if it is filled with awesome Disney lovers. These adorable Mickey Napkin Rings will add so many giggles and smiles to your dinner napkin that you may not even want to use it. Maybe you should put out a stack of paper napkins too, just in case. If you want to get even more creative, think about using different characters for each guest’s napkin. Make it a game and pick the Disney character that fits each guest’s personality, then see if they can guess which seat is theirs.

5. Disney Movie

Your choices when choosing a thanksgiving inspired Disney movie are limited; trust us we were just as surprised as you. Winnie the Pooh’s Seasons of Giving, a Disney’s House of Mouse episode entitled House Of Turkey, and Jim Henson’s recently released Turkey Hollow may be your only options for a Thanksgiving movie fest. Search as we may, it appears that the 1953 Walt Disney’s Thanksgiving Day Mirthquakes was only available in a theatrical release. It would have been nice to see which animated shorts Disney put together for the turkey season.

6. Butternut Pluto

I mean seriously, what can we say about this Butternut Pluto? It is just too stinkin’ cute and would make an adorable centerpiece in and of itself. If you aren’t sure what to do with the butternut squash once the party is over, they make a great soup or you can  even fry them (think sweet potato fries, but better).

7. Disney Pasta Dishes

From pasta salad to macaroni and cheese, the opportunities to create a Disneyfied side dish are endless with Disney Friends Pasta. Seriously, how adorable would it be to see your Disney pals brighten up your Thanksgiving plate.

8. Macy’s Parade

Mickey has always been a favorite in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Disney fans across the country fill with excitement when those mouse ears float down the street. Watching the parade is the perfect way to bring a little Disney magic into your home.

This year’s parade has something really special in store for Disney and Muppet fans, 2016’s parade will be led by the one and only Miss Piggy (oh yeah and Kermie too, but you know she is all about “hogging” the spotlight). The parade will kick off with an amazing musical number like only The Muppets can deliver.

9. Accessorize with Disney

If you can’t bring Disney to the table, you can at least bring it to the party with an endless number of Disney accessories. A fall inspired set of mouse ears, a festive Mickey tie, or a hidden Mickey patterned dress, a touch of Disney can go a long way to adding an extra touch of joy to your Thanksgiving festivities.

10. Disney Inspired Treats

These Mickey pumpkin cupcakes were inspired by a treat actually sold in the parks. They are not only cute, but delicious and easy to make too! Not a fan of pumpkin cake, that’s fine, it would work just as well with chocolate or vanilla. Let your creativity shine and make them your own!
